Sedation

Most children are able to complete treatment with nitrous oxide and local anesthetic, but some require higher levels of sedation. Generally, these patients are either very young, have a special need, or have extreme dental anxiety. In addition, some children simply require a lot of dental work and multiple visits may turn a cooperative child into a fearful or anxious one. For these children sedation dentistry provides a relatively safe and effective way to treat dental decay.

Here at Jungle Dental we offer two different methods of sedation in order to individualize treatment for each and every child. The following methods of sedation are available to each patient dependent on their specific needs:

  • Nitrous Oxide Sedation
    • Often called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a very safe, mild sedative that will help your child remain relaxed during dental procedures.
  • Intravenous (IV) or Deep Sedation
    • A pediatric anesthesiologist, Dr. Gershon Fink, will provide the anesthesia in our office, and utilize appropriately trained staff and healthcare professionals as well as current monitoring techniques designed to keep your child safe during treatment.

We’re always here to listen to your concerns and provide you with all the info you need to make an informed decision regarding your child’s dental care.
